All-Star

1. What is an All-Star?

  • A child that has proven to be one of the top players in his/her age group.
  • Proven either by his/her record in their current season, in tryouts for All-Star or a combination of both.
  • Has shown good sportsmanship among teammates and opponents.
  • Has shown respect to coaches and umpires.
  • Is coachable and cooperative.
  • The player would be an exceptional representative of FCSB and contribute to the success of the appropriate age group.
  • The player's summer schedule must allow for extensive summer baseball/softball and commitment to his/her team (dates when they may not be available should be identified on their All-Star commitment form).

 

2. What is the procedure to be considered for an All-Star and the format of the All-Star tryouts?

  • A league email will be sent out by the FCSB board of directors on May 21st to all potential All-Star candidates. 
  • Player/Parents will fill out an All-Star commitment form and return it to the FCSB concession stand by June 1st
  • All-Star tryouts have been scheduled for Sunday, June 4th at FCSB fields. Original) not a copy) birth certificated must be verified at that time for each player requesting consideration. The original birth certificate will be immediately returned after verification.
  • Players selected to be an All-Star will be notified by June 7th.

3. Are there any restrictions to be considered for a FCSB All-Star?

  • FCSB would like to field the most competitive All-Star team at each age level supported by FCSB. There current age levels are: boys- 7U, 8U, 9U, 10U, 11U and 12U and girls: 8U, 10U and 12 U
  • FCSB All-Stars may not be affiliated with any other summer baseball/softball program.
  • A player requesting to play All-Stars is required to play at the age level tied to their birth date, not the league level they may have played during the current season. Any request to play at a different level must be submitted with their All-Star application.
  • All potential All-Star candidates must meet minimum play requirements of fifty percent (50%) of their team's scheduled games.
  • All All-Star players are subject to approval of the FCSB board of directors. 
 
4. What are the All-Star date, fees and games they may play?

  • The All-Star season starts immediately after the conclusion of their respective recreation season or end-of-season tournament. 
  • The fee for the 2017 is $110. The fee covers the cost of tournaments, uniforms, umpires and field maintenance. 
  • The teams will play in tournaments which will usually run from Thursday thru Sunday. The All-Star teams can also play individual instructional games in a single or doubleheader format with local leagues at FCSB or at other leagues. These games are called "friendlies". 
  • The appropriate FCSB commissioner will select the tournaments to be played in in consultation with the respective All-Star head coach and can also assist with scheduling of the "friendly" games.
 
5. Who will pick the head coach and assistant coaches for the All-Star team?
 
  • The All-Star head coach and assistant coach will be chosen based upon the submission of an application and possible interview process that is administered by the FCSB board of directors.
  • The deadline for submitting this application for 2017 is May 24th.
  • The All-Star head coach and assistant coach at each level will be notified of their selection by June 1st.
  • Each group of coaches are expected to cooperate and operate with the best interest of the development of the All-Star players and FCSB.
