                                                                                         8U TEAMS


1. Age cut-off date is May 1st.

2. All judgment calls by an umpire may not be protested or argued. Umpires have 
the final say.

3. No Protested Games: Rules interpretation may be argued as soon as the dispute 
arises. The umpire and/or Tournament Director will resolve the dispute before 
play resumes. All decisions are final.

4. Coaches are responsible for the behavior of the team and fans. No arguing or 
poor sportsmanship from players, coaches, parent’s, and fan’s will be tolerated. 
Any team violating this rule will be given one (1) warning, the second, the 
individual guilty-coach, player, parent or fan, will be suspended from the current 
game and the next upcoming game. A suspended coach, player, parent or fan 
will be removed from the entire park.

5. Home Team Designation. During pool play, the umpire will conduct a coin flip 
prior to the game with the team that traveled the furthest calling the flip. During 
elimination rounds the home team will be the better seed and will occupy the 3rd
base dugout. 

6. Grace Period: A 10-minute grace period will be extended after the scheduled 
start of the game. If, after this period of time has expired and a team has not 
shown itself ready to play, the game will be forfeited 7-0.

7. Minimum Players to Play: The minimum number of players to start and finish a 
game is nine (9).

8. The opposite team can enforce an automatic out in the 9th batting position. This 
will be decided before the game and notified to umpire and tournament director.

9. Complete game: A complete game will consist of six (6) innings, however, the 
10-run rule will apply after four (4) innings, 15-run rule after three (3) innings, or 
8-run rule after five (5) innings .

10.Time Limit: A one (1) hour forty-five (45) minute time limit is in effect for all 
games except the the semi-finals or championship games. A new inning cannot 
start after the time limit has expired.

11. Playing Time: All players must play a minimum of two (2) innings in a six (6) or 
seven (7)-inning game. Exception: If a player has a doctor’s note about an injury which restricts his play, he may either bat or play field based on the injury. 
If a player is injured and doesn’t have a doctor’s note about playing, he must 
receive the opposing coaches ok if he is only going to play either the field or bat.

13.The team will bat all dressed players.

14.The maximum bat size allowed is a 2 1/4 ” barrel, no flatten or dented aluminum 
bats allowed. All bats need to have a 1.15 BPF Stamp.

15.A batter throwing his/her bat or helmet will be given one (1) team warning. A 
second offense by any batter will be considered out.

GAME RULES

16.All Pitcher's-helpers must wear heart guard and helmet at all times during play. 
Protective cups are optional but not required. The pitcher’s helper must have 
one foot inside the circle until the ball is hit.

17.Each batter can receive up to a maximum of 6 pitches. If the player hasn't put the 
ball in play after 6 pitches, then he is out unless he foul-tips the 6th pitch. The 
batter may get more than 6 pitches if he keeps swinging and continues to foul-tip 
the ball. The batter can NOT take a pitch without being called out after 6 pitches.

18.The coach that pitches must use a full throwing motion and can't appear to be 
throwing darts. NO EXCEPTIONS!

19.No saying "Batter Swing" (Official Little League Rules).

20.When the infielder has control of the ball, has acknowledged the lead runner and 
the lead runner has stopped forward progress, the decision can be made by the 
umpire to call time. Runners other than the lead runner will be granted the next 
base if they are across the half way line. If they are not across the line they will 
return to the previous base. Only the umpire can grant time.

21.An outfielder may not make a play at a base. He must get the ball to an infielder.

22. An outfielder may not maintain his fielding position on the infield dirt, and must 
maintain a respectable distance from the infield.

23.Only one coach in the field to work with the defense.

24.If a batted ball hits the Coach pitching, the play is ruled dead and the batter 
resumes the same pitch count they had before the pitch.

25.If the Batter throws the bat after swinging, he will receive a warning with no 
penalty. The second offense will result in the player being called "out".

26.The only player that may swing a bat is the player up to bat. - SAFETY IS
ESSENTIAL - No hit-sticks or swinging bats inside or outside the dugout. 

27.The slide rule is in effect for all close plays at a base. A player not sliding may 
be considered out in the judgment of the umpire, and the play is considered 
dead. Base runners attempting to score must slide at home plate, unless in the 
umpire’s judgment, contact is not likely without sliding.

28.The maximum number of runs in an inning to be scored is 6 (six) per team except 
for the last known inning. If the game is in a time limit situation and the coaches 
and umpire agree that it is the last inning due to the time limit, then the maximum 
number of runs for the inning is not recognized.

29.Interference:
a. Base runners who intentionally interfere with the defensive player will be 
called out.
b. Defensive players must remain out of the base paths and not block bases 
or home plate. If a Defensive player interferes with the base runner or 
intentionally blocks a base or home plate, the player is automatically 
awarded the base he was heading towards. 

30.Over Throws. Over throws that land in out of play territory shall result in the 
base runner(s) advancing only one base.

31.Injured Base Runner. The last runner not to reach base will replace any runner 
sustaining an injury while running, on base. 

32.Extra Innings
a. First of all time-limit games in pool play can end in a tie.
b. Bracketed play has a time-limit for the games except the Semis and 
Championship 
c. First extra inning is played as normal 
d. Additional extra innings will use California rule and place a player on 
2nd base and start with one out. The player placed on 2nd base is the 
one who made the last out in the previous inning.

33.Tie breaker is broken down as follows: 
a. Head to Head
b. Fewest runs allowedc. Runs scored
d. Coin toss

PITCHING RULES

15. Each pitcher may not pitch more than three (3) innings per game and no more than twelve (12) innings per tournament; this includes both pool play and tournament play. One (1) pitch thrown in any inning will constitute an inning pitched for that pitcher.

16. When a pitcher is replaced in a game, he/she cannot re-enter the game as a pitcher.

17. Reporting: Coaches must report all pitchers thrown and number of innings thrown immediately after each game. Pitch count forms are available on our web site for download and at the concessions office.  Violation of the pitching rules could result in forfeiture of games or disqualification from tournament, at the discretion of the tournament director.

18. Two (2) trips to the mound in an inning to the same pitcher, on the third trip that pitcher must be replaced by another eligible pitcher.

19. A pitcher will be removed from the position if he hits three (3) batters in an inning or a total of four (4) batters during the game.

 

GAME RULES

20. In order to speed up the game, the speedy rule will apply for the catcher on base. This rule applies to the player who will be playing the Catcher position in the very next defensive inning ONLY. If the Catcher is on base, with two (2) outs, he can be replaced with another runner. The runner, who substitutes for the catcher on base, will be the player who made the last out. The base runner that is replaced MUST catch the complete next inning.

21. Free substitution is allowed.

22. Infield fly rule will apply.

23. There will be no completely replayed games. If the game has gone at least four (4) innings, then it will constitute a complete game. 3 ½ innings, if the home team is ahead.

24. If a game is suspended in the middle of an inning due to weather or darkness and has completed the minimum number of innings to constitute it as a completed game, then the final result of that game will revert back to the previous full inning played.

25. No lead offs allowed, runner may not leave base until pitched ball reaches the plate.

26. The slide rule is in effect for all close plays at a base. A player not sliding may be considered out in the judgment of the umpire, and the play is considered dead. Base runners attempting to score must slide at home plate, unless in the umpire’s judgment, contact is not likely without sliding.

27. Interference:
